SLUC held its 36th Commencement Exercises last June 7, 2017 at the Jose D. Aspiras Hall. The commencement exercises started with the processional followed by the entrance of the colours. The doxology and the singing of the national anthem were led by the CAMERATA.
Mr. John Raymund D. Torres, the Academic Excellence Awardee, delivered the petition of the graduates. Dr. Floribeth P. Cuison presented the candidates for graduation and Atty. Benjamin P. Sapitula confirmed the graduates. This was followed by the message of the guest of honour and speaker, Dr. Armando Q. Ganal, the regional director of DOST Regional Office I. The pledge of loyalty was led by Mr. Julius O. Estoque.

Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – South La Union Campus held its Recognition Program 2017 at Jose D. Aspiras Hall last June 1, 2017.
The event started with a Baccalaureate Mass followed by the procession of the graduating students with their parents. The guest of honour and speaker, Ms. Remely B. Lachica, Senior Fishing Regulations Officer, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Region I, imparted her words of wisdom to the graduates who will face new endeavours.

The Campus Student Body Organization (CSBO), together with its legislative arm, the Campus Student Council (CSC) conducted the first ever iLead: Leadership Skills Enhancement for Action and Development last July 14 – 16, 2017.
The three-day seminar-workshop aimed to educate the student leaders in significant sessions such as Parliamentary Procedures by Mr. Ronald Bustos, Resolution – Making by Mr. Jabar Casisiempre, Business Correspondence by Mr. John Mark Lachica and Ms. Mylene Caytap, Project Management by Mr. Alvin John Coloma and Ms. Mary-Jane Cabilitazan, Budgeting by Ms. Wamie Escaño, Ms. Boun Natale Padilla, and Ms. Elma Carreon, and Office Management by Mr. Emmanuel Tiglao.
The breakout sessions were done in the new College of Computer Science Building and the Jose D. Aspiras Hall served as plenary hall.

The South La Union Campus’ (SLUC) Student Body Organization and Campus Student Council conducted the Iti Pangulo 2017, an annual leadership training for student leaders, last April 7-9, 2017 at DMMMSU-SLUC.
The training was a three-day workshop where student leaders from the three campuses faced different challenges to test their leadership skills. The ten challenges were leadership management, integrity, faith, assertion of willpower, optimism and opacity, cognitive capacity, proactive and determined attitude, and communication. These challenges not only tested their physical strength but also their mental capabilities.

The Department of Education in partnership with DMMMSU-SLUC College of Arts and Sciences conducted four batches of Senior High School Teachers’ training for K to 12 Basic Education Program. The first batch of training was held last April 17 to May 4, 2017. The successful training was followed by three more batches: DepEd Region 1, Grade 12 (Batch 1) last May 28 to June 3 and June 12 to June 24, DepEd Cordillera Administrative Region, Grade 12 (Batch 1) last July 2 to 19, and recently, DepEd Region I, Grade 12 (Batch 2) this July 26 to August 12. According to Dr. Joanne C. Rivera, head of the training management team, there will be a second batch for DepEd Cordillera Administrative Region next year and Batch 3 for DepEd Region 1 on September 2017.
